My primary vehicle for expression is paint. My mixed media paintings/drawings are a search for a soul quality in the subjects that I study. These are not portraits, as the faces depicted are often nameless models or people out of my imagination. These paintings are, instead, an examination into the experience of being human.

Finding Womban Series -

The mixed media series, titled Finding Womban, is the visual depiction of women who are on a journey of liberation by healing and rejoicing in their own femininity. The striking and raw faces of women on a quest for soul identity are interwoven with rich subliminal backgrounds of abstracted wombs. The women in the paintings wear explorative expressions, each one seeking to reclaim a power beyond their gender and sexual nature. As the viewer searches for the abstracted wombs within the paintings, the viewer experiences a similar quest to the portrayed woman who, in turn, is searching for her own feminine essence.

Lalibella Series -

This is a pastel series based on my travels to the ancient land of Lalibella Ethiopia, a mystical and religious home to millions of Coptic Orthodox Christians. The drawings depict the spiritual pilgrimage made during Christmas to Lalibella. It is a time of fasting, prayers, ritual, and worship.
