Art Auctions are a way for the arts to raise funds for worthy causes. The Meta Experience partners with non-profit organizations in fund-raisers that support international aid and development.
ORGANIZATIONS WE HAVE DONATED ART TO:
Girls Gotta Run
This organization provides running shoes for rural Ethiopian girls to encourage them to stay in school and become active in sports. Young Ethiopian girls are typically married off at an early age (as early as seven years old), and are given few options. Girls Gotta Run hopes to empower young girls by promoting education and athleticism. The Meta Experience has sold and continues to sell custom art for this organization. For more information, visit www.girlsgottarun.org.
Art 4 Development
This international arts organization uses art as a medium to benefit social change around the world. The Meta Experience created and sold three works of art in their Treasure Postcards silent art auction at the 9th Street Gallery in Washington, DC. Artists from several different countries participated in the exhibition, and the proceeds were donated to two women's shelters, one in Washington, DC and one in Turkey. In addition to donating art for their charitable auction, artist Helina Metaferia has also lead Peace Project workshops on behalf of the organization. Visit www.art4development.net for more information about this organization.
One Common Unity
This is a grassroots organization that promotes sustainable communities through a variety of local and global community art projects, omni-media programming, and innovative peace education services. The proceeds from their fundraising art auctions are used to make their various programming possible. For more information, visit www.onecommonunity.org.
